Facial Study - Girl dark atmospheric 2021

I created this drawing once again using the 3rd party charcoal brushes in Procreate. I will also include a video of the creation when I’ve uploaded it to YouTube sometime tonight. It started off a little rough but rendered out pretty nicely

Facial Study - Girl: A Charcoal Symphony on iPad Pro

In the luminous world of digital artistry, I present to you "Facial Study - Girl dark atmospheric 2021." This masterpiece marks the inaugural creation on the artist's new iPad Pro, leveraging the exceptional screen brightness to breathe life into a dark and atmospheric portrayal. The reference photograph, sourced from a Pinterest image, adds a unique touch to this creation, making it a personal exploration rather than an artwork for sale.

Unveiling the iPad Pro Odyssey

"This is the first work I completed on my new iPad Pro using Procreate. There isn’t a lot of difference in performance, but the screen brightness is exceptional."

The artist's journey with the iPad Pro begins with this facial study—a testament to the seamless integration of technology and artistic expression. The enhanced screen brightness becomes a canvas for the exploration of dark atmospheres, setting the stage for a unique artistic odyssey.

"The reference photograph was from a Pinterest image, so this drawing will not be for sale. I created this drawing once again using the 3rd party charcoal brushes in Procreate."

Charcoal Brushes in Procreate: A Dance of Precision

"I started off a little rough but rendered out pretty nicely. I find 'pushing around' charcoal in Procreate a little more forgiving but it does take just as much if not more time to get it to the effect I like."

The artist engages in a delicate dance with the digital charcoal brushes in Procreate, pushing and molding the medium to bring forth the essence of the subject. The forgiving nature of this digital realm allows for experimentation and refinement, culminating in an effect that captures the artist's vision.

"Using white brush colors with the same tools is easier to work with than traditional media. You can get much more back and forth without muddying up the drawing or damaging the surface…obviously."

Video Chronicles: A Glimpse into Creation

"I will also include a video of the creation when I’ve uploaded it to YouTube sometime tonight."

As a gift to the audience, the artist extends an invitation to witness the creation process through a video chronicle. This behind-the-scenes glimpse captures the evolution of the facial study, offering insights into the meticulous strokes and nuanced decisions that shape the artwork.

"It started off a little rough but rendered out pretty nicely. I find 'pushing around' charcoal in Procreate a little more forgiving but it does take just as much if not more time to get it to the effect I like. Using white brush colors with the same tools is easier to work with than traditional media. You can get much more back and forth without muddying up the drawing or damaging the surface…obviously. You can also pull back some of the charcoal application with a 'kneaded erasure brush' at 50%(ish)."

In the realm of digital charcoal on iPad Pro, "Facial Study - Girl dark atmospheric 2021" stands as a testament to the artist's exploration of technique, medium, and the seamless marriage of traditional artistry with cutting-edge technology.
